Free Tax Preparation Available to Residents of North Essex
From February 6 through April 15, the Family Success Center is providing Free Tax Preparation in partnership with the Tax Aide Program of AARP Foundation, the IRS and the Montclair Public Library.
All residents of North Essex are eligible to have their tax returns prepared Free of Charge by trained and certified volunteers.
Appointments will be available on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to Noon at the United Way Building , 60 Fullerton Avenue, Montclair and Tuesdays 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Montclair Public Library, 50 South Fullerton Avenue.
Starting January 11, call 973-746-4235 to make an appointment Thursday, Friday, or Saturday OR 973-744-0500 to make an appointment on Tuesday. Appointments are necessary so call as soon as possible.
You will need to bring the following documentations with you for the Tax Preparation appointment:
- a valid form of picture ID a copy of your 2008 Federal and State tax return
- Social security or Tax ID number and birth dates for yourself, your spouse and your dependents
- Wages and earning statement forms W-2 and 1099 from all employees
- A blank check or bank account name, number and routing number for direct deposit
In addition, if any of the following apply, also bring them to the appointment:
- Child care expenses (including the provider's address and federal ID number)
- Mortgage company statements
- Adoption expenses
- Alimony paid or recieved
- Any notice from the IRS or state tax office
- Property tax bills, College tuition and student loan interest statements
- Additional forms of income such as prizes, awards, scholarships. lottery/gambling winnings
