Camp Fund

For most children in our area, summer is a time to look forward to, spent having fun at the shore, on vacation or at summer camp. But there are families in our community who do not have the extra funds to send their children to camp making the summer months a difficult time.

United Way of North Essex has been collecting funds to send children to summer camp since the late 1930s. Through the years, thousands of kids have benefited from the generosity of you and your neighbors. The Camp Fund is a wonderful way to help make a difference in your own community by donating to a fund that provides special memories of a fun filled summer to less fortunate children in our area.

In 2009, the Camp Fund raised over $30,000 and sent over 200 children from our community to 8 local nonprofit day camps. Unfortunately, we were not able to accommodate over 100 additional requests. This year we hope that, with your help, we will be able to send even more children to camp.

CAMP COUNSELORS CLUB

New this year, the North Essex Camp Fund has createda special program for donors who contribute $250 or more. Each $250 donation funds a week at camp for a specific child. The child sponsored will personally acknowledge the donor's generosity with a thank-you note recounting his or her own camp experience. It's a terrific way to see your donation at work, and learn just what a difference you, personally, can make in the life of a child in need.

Keep in mind, there are no administrative or overhead charges to the Camp Fund so all donations go directly to funding camperships.  The campers are children who have been identified by local community agencies and guidance counselors and include special needs children.
